How to Change your Extended Away (Temporary Absence/Vacation) Voicemail Greeting

 

This greeting is worthwhile to use when you are going on vacation, etc and would like to temporarily update your greeting without recording over your general personal voicemail greeting.

 

From Inside The Office (or from a mobile phone app such as MobileLink or UC1)

  1. Dial your own extension (or hit the the Envelope/Cassette Tape Wheels button on your physical phone if you have one) to dial into your voicemail.
  2. Enter your numerical passcode.
  3. If prompted, press 1 to access your voice mailbox.
  4. Press 4 to change your extended away greeting.
  5. Press 3 to record a new extended away greeting.
  6. Once recorded, press 1 to activate the extended away greeting. (When you want to deactivate the greeting and have your regular voicemail greeting start playing again, follow steps 1-4 and then press 2 to deactivate the extended away greeting.)

From Outside The Office

  1. Dial your personal DID (direct dial number) or dial your main office line (or the Auto Attendant, if these are not the same) and then your extension.
  2. Wait for your voicemail to pick up, then press the * key.
  3. Enter your numerical passcode.
  4. If prompted, press 1 to access your voice mailbox.
  5. Press 4 to change your extended away greeting.
  6. Press 3 to record a new extended away greeting.
  7. Once recorded, press 1 to activate the extended away greeting. (When you want to deactivate the greeting and have your regular voicemail greeting start playing again, follow steps 1-5 and then press 2 to deactivate the extended away greeting.)
